Begun in 1990, and renamed in 1993, the AAFT Carolyn Terhune Volunteer of the Year Award is given to the AAFT member(s) who best exemplify outstanding service to AAFT and our community. Carolyn Terhune served as 1986 AAFT president, was the 1986 AAFT Silver Medal honoree, 1987 AAF Ninth District Person of the Year and 1991 AAF Ninth District Governor. Among her many area board positions, she served as president of Topeka Friends of the Zoo, of Women in Communications and of the Public Relations Society of Topeka. Carolyn was a beloved leader, co-worker and friend.
